Was out on a hack on B and he is spooky at the best of times. Just going down a track we have been down millions of times and he spooks at a twig and did a complete 180. now he does this a lot and i stayed on carried on 20 yards later he does the same at a little bird. stay on give him a smack carry on. then litterally 10 yards later he does it again. catches me completly of guard and rockets me out the front door. fortunatly he dumped me in the heather so i bounced back up almost immidiatly only to see him charging off!

I called and called but he just galloped of ears pricked.

At this stage i panicked. i was in the middle of the heath on my own and B had buggered off! there was nothing to stop him getting onto the road and as i saw him disapear i convinced myself he had already been run over and was dead!

I phoned everyone i could think of and asked them to go look for him. I ran as fast as my legs to carry me and after about 15 mins ( it felt like hours ) i got a call of Elle123 saying she had him in the heath car park miles away from where the bugger had dumped me!

so i continuted on my 5 mile cross country sprint feeling physically sick and hardly able to breath ... stupid horse!

Anyway i found him with Elle123 plus about 10 other people of the search party!

Despite the fact that he had just galloped flat out across a few miles of heather he hadnt even broken a sweat, he was as calm as anything and looked like butter wouldnt melt!

So he was escorted down the road by two cars with hazards on, me riding him and two people on either side of him!

Turns out the an AI from brynston school had pulled in to change her sweatshirt and B appeard on the track leading to the road and she jumped out and grabbed him. If she had been 30 secs later he would have been on the road and i dread to think what would have happened!

So if the lady who caught a big bay idiot today reads this thank you ever so much!

Would that be B for Bugger ... it certainly should be!!

Mine did this a few years back, he didn't make it to the road though, he went back to his field for some grass .... poor starved animal that he was!!

they do like to catch you unawares and then charge off in the direction of the most Traumatic place , Main Road , Railway line etc !!!

I have had that happen twice ,Both times , safely over a main road!!!

Heart just stopped, and then next minute he was back in the paddock !

You poor thing, but I have to say, what an incredible bunch of friends you have, you may be really irritated with said horse, but you should definitely hug your friends, lovely to hear you getting such good support!

I am pleased you are both in 1 piece safe and sound, he sounds a little like my boy i am just looking at calmers, he seems to have become really jumpy over the last few days, the weather is awful wet and windy - that never helps, i feel like wacking mine over the head with a sledge hammer at the moment!! He never legs it after the event, just looks at me as if to say what are you doing down there then! If he spoke english I would point out that back feet over ears doesn't help much!
