Hi, Ratface here!
I used to be Burmilla. However, life got in the way. I rarely had the time to read/write anything other than professional/personal/companion animals To Do lists.
Almost (!) retired, I still ride my namesake 2-3 times a week. Ratface is 28, I'm 76. We're both old enough to know better.
Regards
Ratfaces 1&2.

Good to hear from another older rider still riding - and, better than me, your 76 plus 28 years means you total over 100 years between you. My share mare and me (82) have another three years to go. I really hope both you and I stay well and can go on riding. As I know from this forum that good health in old age is largely a matter of luck.

Another old person here! Pony and I have 98 yrs between us, last share/loan horse and I had 102 years and he is only just retired. Yes, we just must keep on keeping on, that is the secret.

Serious respect, Skib! Mine is probably due to maternal genetic inheritance: in their day, mother and maternal grandmother were both noted whips: mother rode aside with the Worcestershire Hunt, and usually stayed out all day, with groom/second horse in attendance. Grandmother thought such behaviour "unladylike". On one occasion, mother "borrowed " the milk man's horse and trap, "because the horse was bored" and took it for a brisk jaunt round the village. Grandmother thought that was "rather poor form".
Later in life, mother took to fast cars and motorcycles. I don't ride motorcycles anymore, due to my love of speed vs deteriorated eye sight. I still own a "wolf in sheep's clothing" 1800cc car and an IAM ticket.
My biggest thanks go to my lovely horse: the ultimate in attitude, speed and beauty.
