Some of you may remember 2-3 years ago when I started jumping PF and was a proper little scaredy-cat (thank you TFT and Jo Cooper for sorting that out!!) I was riding with the Bossy Old Fart and used to swear copiously over every jump (not helped by the fact that PF was and is an extravagant jumper). The BOF used to call me 'oleee sheeet' because I used to say that a lot. Apparently

Well, yesterday, being launched into space by PF I let forth another expletive. RI called me over and said... "What was all that Ahhhhhhhing? that was a really good jump"
"Ummmmm" *blush blush* "That's not actually what I said..."
"So what did you say?"
"Ummmm, I said fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu**, and I meant it in a good way"
"Oh, right."

Anyone else get Jumping Tourettes?

Yep, when i was a pony clubber many many moons ago I used to be constantly reprimanded! I am glad I am not alone, I used to think I was some kind of etiquette lepper! And yes, I still do it now. More so if I miss my stride on my bigh high whithered boy who's saddle is enough to make a horse riding saint swear if upwards force meets downwards body weight in a specific region!

Same here. Normally on the approach to or getaway if it is particularly quick.

Apparently I count down the paces into the jump (thats what i'm doing, honest) by going "sh*t, Sh*t, SH*T!", and have been known to utter the odd F word completely subconciously in between a related stride.

I don't jump in polite company

Yes, always when I used to jump - I still have it now in dressage when I forget the test

My fave was always "Booooollllllooooooo............."
The last time I done that was the second part of triple, losing my stirrup, becoming unseated but making it over the third part and not hitting the deck until I'd got through the timing equipment!

That was my technique when I used to be mad enough to do XC!!! Works a treat I say!

Yep I always get it. It always starts out as squeaking - honestly and builds itself up as I warm up. Most amusing for people watching - but hugely embarrasing for me!

Yup, and I seem to have very little control over it.

It used to be 3, 2, 1, Fuuuuuuuuu**! as I counted down to the fence then got my stride hideously wrong and then got left behind over the fence. Now its just swearing in a rhythm - balllooooocks said to a canter beat - on the way in.

In a strange way it seems to help.....

Not Touretts but, if I ever have to jump more than 12 jumps I will pass out from not breathing
grin.gif
I try I really do but by the time I get to the last I realise I haven't taken a breath!

And thats just on tiny stuff!

Not touretts but I used to hold my breath when jumping and my instructor used to make me make animal noises as I went over the fences to ensure I was breathing!

I haven't jumped for so long I don't know what I'd do - but the way Lu loose schools over jumps I am sure some of my less attractive language may come out!
