my colt who will be 2 in may will be saying goodbye to his balls this afternoon

now ive never had a horse that has had this done before and dont know what to expect,i think it will be done standing,im sure he will be very sore afterwards as well,im going to feel so bad for him he is such a good colt very laid back no trouble at all now knowing my luck after they are removed he will prob turn in to an idiot !!

He'l be fine hunny, my boy had his done this time last year. He was done standing up, he lives out and didn't have to come in once, Im sure he'l be tired but I didnt have to do anything after they were off, no cleaning, hosing it etc just leave them be and he was fine. Good luck x
 
He will be fine, the standing up job is quick. Both my colts were done at the same tim. All I will say is be careful how you dispose of them I had 4 nads to get rid of buried them in the forest and sure enough before long the dogs had found them and were carrying them around the yard.

IT WAS SO DISGUSTING - naughty dogs and shame on me for not digging a deeper hole


Keep an eye on your boy for any out of the ordianry swelling.
 
Same here. Mine was done in April last year, he was fine. The wound just seems to heal without any interference. I never touched his once. Sure your boy will be fine. Good luck.
 
Oh poor boy, hope it goes well for all concerned. Is he the lovely grey in your sig?
Out of interest, approx. how much does it cost for 'removal'?
 
I kow how you feel my little man is 2 yo in april and his are coming off on monday :-(
I felt horrid cause like your he is such a good boy. . although in the last 3 weeks (I think with the spring)

He is starting to try his luck when I pick out his feet and is getting rather colty with the mares in the other field. . . so don't feel quiet as bad now :-)

Our vets said around £250 but wont know until its done. . .

My lad was done nearly 3 years ago as a yearling and it was about £260 then done standing up, had to stay out completely for two weeks and was right as rain. Didn't make him any quieter though:

My cat walked with his legs apart for a day or two, but horses are obviously made of sterner stuff!

vet quoted me £150 for doing it,anyway all is well so far he was a star before and after bless him,fingers crossed he will heal well,he is the black roan in my sigg
