My little horse is gone

I am so sorry for your loss. No words will help at this time though, look after yourself xx

Thank you all.
I was going over it last night in my head.
At 7 I looked out to see if he was ok, wanting breakfast or if I had time for coffee. He was grazing at that point.
Also his hay was all gone, overnight there’s usually a bit left. He had poo’d as usual all round the edge of the field but was in the middle when I got to him at 8.
I take this to mean that it hadn’t long happened and he’d not been stood in that state for 8 hours or whatever ? that has to be right?

I am sure this is correct. Whatever happened, was very shortly before you found him, so he really wasn't there on his own for very long. What an awful shock for you. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am very very sorry.Take some comfort though from the fact that he had a lovely careing home with you and not all horses get that.Yours did though.

As if like weren't difficult enough at the moment. How devastatingly upsetting for you - but he must have been reassured that you were on the scene so quickly. Look after yourself.

So sorry and it is a huge shock. It sounds like it really hadn’t happened very long,it just shows how quickly things can happen.Do not beat yourself up and overthink it,sadly they are very complex animals and sometimes it’s just not meant to be.Take your comfort from you have given a wonderful home and been a very caring owner.Take care of yourself.x

What a horrible and freak thing to happen. How on earth did he manage to do that! Just shows you can't guard against every possible scenario. A friend's youngster broke his leg in the stable, no sign of being cast or anything to cause it. Must 'just' be a bad loading of a bone as they move, get up.
You have all my sympathy, such an awful shock and a waste of a life.

God this is just awful news for you, I am so dreadfully sorry. I agree it sounds as though you found him so quickly. Be kind to yourself, these things take time to get over, especially when its so sudden. Thinking of you. x

I'm so sorry. I think you're right in that it had just happened. Along with the signs that he'd eaten his hay etc, i think you would have had a gut instinct when you looked out and saw him grazing as normal, if he'd been in shock and pain then.
Losing a much loved horse is a tragedy, but knowing that you gave him a good, happy and knowledgeable home, will be a comfort in time. It's just bloody hard, isn't it ?

I’m so sorry to hear this. It does sound like it happened not long before you got there.

Was this the quirky ex racer that you took on from your work?
Yes. Even my o/h who thought he was a nut job was coming round to him. He had such a gentle nature on the ground and had won everyone who met him over.
