just over 3 weeks ago Mani came to live with us. He is an unbroken, hardly touched 4 year, 13.2 tobiano, bright bay with white patches. I reckon he is Newforest x Gypsy cob.
Mani is a Norse moon god and his 'posh' name will be Man in the Moon.
He is here as a companion and to bring on and sell.
So far he has loaded, had feet trimmed, been wormed/deloused, had teeth done, vaccinations, learnt not to worry when his legs are touched, had tail washed. He had to have a leather headcollar with a bit of string to grab and be turned out in a tiny paddock initially. Now he can go out naked and be caught normally, including putting headcollar on.
He now lunges properly with or without tack and has been for walks round the village both with me on foot and led from another horse.
Today he was sat on for the first time and walked round the school.
He is not a ploddy pony and can really move well, I shall try to get him to a couple of shows this summer, to do in hand coloured and for him to be ridden round quietly.
I shall sell him next spring, he will do a couple of days hunting and some PC indoor jumping and dressage. Hopefully he will grow a bit more. He will make a fantastic 2nd pony and is chunky enough for a mum to exercise.
I really can believe how straightforward he is. He has been totally unspoilt.
