My long legs on my new teeny weeny microhorse!

I think you look better on her in the dressage saddle :). She is lovely

Yes I think so too, its funny isn't it as I would have never predicted it. In my head short stirrups in my event saddle would make me look smaller haha

Your position is better on her in the dressage saddle, it doesn't tip you forwards. You look fine on her.

I agree you don't look too big for her and look better in the dressage saddle when your legs aren't all squished up. I'd embrace it and stick those stirrups down a few holes!

She looks lovely, you're obviously doing a good job. Good luck with her.

Ha! Not just me then :)

I think you look spot on for her, you can put your legs on and around her and not be a hinderance. I look like that on my 17.3 hahah

How tall are you?!!!

wow shes a stunner! and you look just right on her imo, its all too easy to lose perspective these days when it seems the latest fad is for teeny people to ride huge warmbloods! :D

Yeah there is that, she is proper micro compared to my others though!

She is very smart - and you look spot on on her. I always find threads like this funny, coming from a world of natives! At 5'8" I do BD (in a dressage saddle) on a 13.1hh (although I do admit it causes balance issues)!! I really like her, she's nicely ridden and looks like she'll make someone a fab horse.

Hopefully she will get a nice new person one day and go on to have an excellent life :)

:)

I know! I think they look ridiculous. I can't understand the fascination with huge WBs if they are only 5'3. They would look much better on a horse that is more in proportion to their size. I love it on the very rare occasions where ponies win in BD. Wish it was more often.

My 5' friend had a sit on Orange and she looked like a massive horse haha

I don't think you look too big on her at all. Your stirrups are 3 holes too short in the first picture! I'm 5'4" and my mare was a tad over 15.1hh but that was all withers and she really wasn't much over 14.2hh. She was narrow too so my legs were't absorbed by her width. I love the little ones, smart, sassy and always fun to ride. For many years I rode a 12.2hh and didn't feel like a squasher.

That saddle is mega forward cut so you have to have mega short stirrups to feel secure in it! !2.2 is teeny weeny!! Orange doing feel like that, like a whizzed up go kart pony!!!

I was even thinking I would take the stirrups down a hole or two in the dressage saddle and it would still look fine. :)

I put them down one and felt comfy enough like this!!

Indeed, there is a fascination for massive horses sometimes... I am not anti or pro big or small, I just think we are conditioned to seeing ourselves as looking better or right on a 16.2 + when in fact a lot of us are well short and small enough to ride a much smaller animal.

I still ride a 14.2 and I'm a good 5'9 or 5'10 and long legs. No one has ever said I look too big in my 17 years odd worth of riding him. And we do dressage too.

Only thing in one of my lessons I was told not to let my leg go too far back when asking for certain things that require leg back from girth - as I have long legs and he is shorter than the average bear that ends up with my leg too far far back, exaggerating the aid too much. If I did the same with my leg on a 17hh it would be fine as they have the length of body to take that aid if you follow me. So the difference between my leg on girth and behind girth is only a matter of inches on the small boy.

..I also used to hunch slightly subconsciously trying to make myself look smaller on him - but that just made me look hunched. Sit up tall, ride proud!

Op enjoy your girl, she looks great fun and don't ever think you look too big as you truly dont!

I get told the same thing about riding my spotted one, so my legs are at least used to riding something smaller. I also used to scrunch up as it makes me lighter y'know hahaha

Thanks, I might even brave another hole, although I did feel comfy yesterday so might just stay the same!

Ha! Not just me then :)

Not just you :)

No where near too tall on her! Even in your dressage saddle, your feet are only level with the bottom of her belly, and you don't appear to be *that* long in your upper body, so not remotely an issue! The dressage saddle certainly looks better, and (just IMO) your position is better in that too (not that there is much wrong with it in the jump saddle you understand ;) )

I am 5'9" and my 15.1hh is the largest horse I have ridden in years - anything bigger than that is far too far off the ground, and too dam difficult to get back on when out hacking!

Very lovely horse though - looks like a lot of fun to be had :) xx

I am 5'8" and riding a 14.2hh highland!!! She's got a massive girth/width though and weirdly enough.. I look fine on her! It's really weird. I look better on her than I do on the 15.2!

I think you look great.

I'm the opposite way and always worry about looking too small. I'm 5' with short legs. I look fine on my 13.3 pony, but I'm constanty worried about my youngster (now 16hh at rising 4) is going to be too big for me!

Yeah she is really good fun. It's a problem in a way when you know that you are meant to be selling them one day!!!

At least I know other people feel the same!! I thought I'd look dreadful on her but no!

Haha I had the opposite, my youngster didn't grow enough!!!

I think you look just fine on her! We are so used to seeing folk perched on top of big horses!

Yeah there is that!!

She is lovely!! I'm so jealous of the young horses you have- you seem to bring them on so well! (What is your secret!?!?!)

How old is she out of interest?

That's kind of you to say. I'm not sure I have a secret, just well practiced in babies, wobbling and neckstrap holding!!

Orange is rising 5. She's super cute and she always whickers at me <3

Blimey you don't look too tall at all! I'm 5'11 with looooong legs and have been asked to exercise a 14.1 welsh/new forest whose pretty sharp and i certainly did feel too tall. But he whizzed round on a hack so I'm clearly not too heavy, I just had aching knees from jockey style stirrups! Luckily its only short term!

Oh gosh, you make me feel mean!!! If you think your tall - i must be HUGE on my pony - 5'9 on a 15hh TB x Knabstrupper!!! You look great and wow, what a lovely, smart horse!! :) Don't worry, just enjoy, you look fab!
