Just thought it would be good to state there are good yards out there.

My yard is an ex Dairy Farm all liveries are DIY. The owners are absolutely lovely and charge peanuts for last minute can you bring in/ turn out my horse even when owner stuck in work says 'and I didn't muck out this morning'.

Everyone goes that extra mile for each other. My horse has been naughty and twice another livery has sat in the school for an hour with me giving me moral support (two different liveries)

Sunday I had an accident out in the fields a livery scraped me up led my horse lunged him to make sure he was ok,phoned her OH and got him to bring over a flask of tea, sat me in a chair put my tack away, washed down my horse dried rugged and put out. Helped me to my OH car then while I was at A & E mucked out my stable, get this took my very muddy leather boots home and cleaned them.

The yard owners have told me to take it easy they will check my horse and make sure he is ok in fact I have an early farrier on Thursday and hey are going to get him in and put him out again charging me silly money.

I could go on for ages but all I can say is they are all lovely and so very supportive.

And yes I am fine just very stiff.
 
It is lovely to hear this sort of post :)

I expect it also may be due to you being a lovely person and behaviour breeds behaviour, if you see what I mean :o
 
care to tell us what yard your on!?

sounds lovely! i am on a similar yard lovely yard owner and just two other liveries who i dont see that much of!
 
Good post! My yard sounds similar, we're tiny, only 3 owners but we all know each other well, all help out in any crisis, noone ever leaves a horse alone or would leave a horse if they thought there was something wrong. We all have each other on speeddial and the YOs are great, leave us pretty much alone but are there if we need anything. No facilities as such, but great hacking and no stress! Hope your accident isnt too serious and you're up and about soon.

I also checked to see where you live. Bugger. Too far!! :D
 
I'd like to join in on this 'my lovely diy yard' thread too and say yyeeessss there are lovely yards.

Last yard soooo supportive of me, spontaneously 'tested' while i was in hospital & generally with my chronic pain disease.

New yard fab fab....my boy had a bitten wart saturday which i tended to at 8am and was returning to at 3pm meanwhile i had 3 texts/calls to reassure me. Lovely.

However....both these yards are v small & I do think that helps alot!!!
 
How lovely to hear a positive 'yard' story :D There are so many people who are unhappy at their yard so it makes a nice change to hear of a happy experience. I have recently moved my girls to share some land with a lovely friend. I was on a super yard before with people who helped each other out. Unfortunately things changed when we got a new livery who was only out for herself and caused a great deal of upset. The owners became so sick of the constant aggro that they decided to close the yard and redevelop the stables into holiday cottages.
Anyway, I'm very happy now at my new place and so are my horses. Your yardmates sound lovely and you obviously appreciate them :)

Love mine too...last weds,id been at work all day and was absolutley exhausted.I got to yard on evening and really couldn't face mucking out...I dragged my whellbarrow to stable,opened the door....and it had been done by the yo.I actually cried lol just thinking how nice that was and couldn't have been a better day for it.
 
Another "my livery is great" post here! Moved onto the yard end of June after nearly a year at a disastrous yard. 10 days after moving my lad blew up with a tooth abscess and spent nearly 2 weeks off, YO offered me her horse to ride in the interim. They were all incredibly supportive over the DVLA/Court saga and again my lovely YO stepped up to offer me the money for the fine (potentially £400!). And lastly was running round like a headless chicken on Saturday as was runny really late, went to make my feeds/nets and came back to another livery mucking out my box!

There have been many more instances - too many to mention - but the gist of it is that I'm surrounded by lovely liveries (and we're quite a big yard with 20 horses here) and a YO that is just brilliant, if totally scatty!
 
Again I would just like to add my yard too is a lovely DIY yard, where the owner will do all she can to help even though she works full time and has her own horses. Fab yards do exist you just need to hunt to find them and not expect them to be shinny yards, with all the best facilities. A happy environment with caring yard owner and fellow liveries is worth it's weight in gold in times of need :)
 
Nope won't say where my yard is it isn't tiny there are hang on a mo just counting ........ Ummmh about 25 horses in all. Only downside is sometimes I realise I have forgotten to go home. Facilities are not the best in the world but I have been where the facilities are the best in the world and know there is more to life than that.

As an added bonus I keep dog biscuits in my feed bin and I don't own a dog but am allowed to spoil the yard collie.
