I think they renamed him because Zippy is really a safe name! But perhaps rechristened he will change. I am so sad he wasn't right for me but glad we can both move on. Sorry self indulgent post I'm just a bit bleary-eyed and nostalgic atm :_(
 
Dont care what breed the wee neddy is, gorgeous as he is. But whats he going to do, what talent does he have, where's he going in the future, to be worth that kind of money? Just looks like a bog standard riding pony to me. Maybe I'm out of touch!!!
 
He's not even got papers though! He is nine so a good while left!

Well he was bought as a PC pony for me. Unfortunately when we got him he was very skinny and refused jumps. When he got condition on, he jumped them and bolted or slowed right down, cat jumped and bolted. He was okay XC but unfortunately not the PC and unaff show pony we wanted. My mum kept him and tried to school him out of it while I was improving rapidly on my sister's pony that she didn't ride much anymore, unfortunately he did not get much better, so erratic in his ways. Now I have a BE schoolmistress and my mum wanted to keep Toby as he's such an easy horse to do anything so we had to sell Zippy as we haven't room for three. Sorry for the long winded answer but you asked!
 
We bought him from a yard without references out of area...not something well be doing again!
Well he is 100% safe and lovely to hack and school he's just phased by the coloured jumps.

He is a handsome fella. I'm still horse hunting and have checked out the safecobs site before. Just out of interest, how long have they spent in retraining Zippy?

Very, very expensive for a horse that's only really being advertised for hacking out. Reading that I'd assume he was safe to do a bit of everything with but from your description it sounds like he wasn't.

I feel for you though, hate to sell a horse on then find that it's up for sale again. How long have they had him?
 
I think that the company that are advertising him have a reputation to keep - therefore are unlikely to advertise a horse that is a bolter.

More, I'd say, to do with a rider that perhaps was rather inexperienced, and unsuited to an even more unexperienced horse....

As for bolting. Very few horses are bolters. And people's conception of what a bolter is can vary wildly.

I quite agree. I have been properly bolted with only once in my life and it was terrifying. On the other hand there hae been plenty of times when the brakes were not quite as good as I would have wished but that is not the same thing at all.
