Am so worried and upset. Toby my 11 yr old collie cross has been under the weather. He has spent the day at the vets undergoing tests and vet thinks he has a liver problem. Needs to wait for results of blood and urine tests for firm diagnosis. I have been doing some research and it seems quite likely it could be secondary cancer as he had 2 mast cell tumours removed last year. Am hoping and praying I am wrong but have a 'feeling' that it may be bad news. :(:(

So sorry to hear that but fingers crossed for you both.
Milk thistle is amazing for the liver and I have heard of more than one case turned around by homeopathy so either way, don't loose hope. Age 11 is still pretty young in a fit dog.
Fingers crossed for Toby - let us know x

paulineh and suzysparkle -thanks for that -I will certainly look into these.

Thanks to you all for the supportive messages.

Toby has perked up a bit today and seemed to get his appetite back this evening. He managed to hop up onto the sofa for a cuddle which he has not done for over a week so am feeling a little more positive. No news from the vet as yet but they were early closing today so I am hoping for a call tomorrow. Fingers crossed for good news.

Yes I'd heard that too. There was a company selling it in Your Dog magazine, I'll try and dig out the details

Update on Toby.
Spoke to the vet today as results of bloods etc are back. He says all the indications are it is his liver. Toby is going in for an exploratory op tomorrow for a liver biopsy and also to examine pancreas etc. Apparently we will then know for sure if it is tumour (which he would remove if possible) or some other cause which will probably be treatable. Hate puting Toby through all this but have to give him his best chance. Ironically he is so much brighter today and his appetite is returning. After tomorrow I will have spent about a thousand pounds just to get a diagnosis. Beans on toast for the next 3 months?? Lol. Don't care though as long as he gets better.
Thank you for all the positive vibes - a few more tomorrow if you can will be very much appreciated.

Hope all goes well tomorrow will be thinking of you and Toby. When they are so young you have to give them every chance.

Hope you manage to get a good nights sleep and vibes for you both tomorrow.
