... so I got on my soapbox and wrote to Lush's customer services, asking them to be aware that HSA are involved in violent action towards people, horses and dogs who are hunting legally.
I invited them to go to a number of hunts, not letting on who they are, and see what happens for themselves, rather than believe propaganda from either side.
... I got the stock reply that I think everyone gets when they write to Lush on this subject: leading me to believe a fair few of us have complained! No comment on my invitation to see it all first hand.
So I wrote back to them again, quoting from their stock email.
I asked Lush to confirm their position on those who hunt legally.
I applauded them for supporting an organisation which promotes non-violent tactics, but expressed my concern that what this particular organisation says and what it does may differ. I asked for Lush's position regarding violence against people, dogs and horses hunting legally.
I pointed out that i found it odd that Lush felt that our government and police force are reluctant to enforce a ban. (This is on HSA's website, btu has been taken on as Lush's own position in the email.) I asked for Lush's own evidence to support that this was the case.
I have asked for a personalised reply this time, so that I could continue to buy Lush products with a clear conscience. I pointed out that just as I wouldn't wish to buy products from a company knowing they supported football hooliganism or terrorism, I didn't wish to inadvertedly support a cosmetics company who supports, through knowledge or ignorance, violence towards people and animals who were operating within the law.
I pointed out that I was not the only one with these sentiments, and directed them towards the HHO forums, and invited a member of their PR team to join to find out what we had to say, and professionally put across their point of view and hopefully calm our current fears, all without fear of being banned or deleted.
... I'm not sure if I should have done that, but I would really like them to come on here to listen to our concerns and give their response. I know a lot of us are disappointed with Lush over their stance on this.
...My bad??
Admin'll possibly give me a right rollocking for "incitement to riot" or something, but I am proud to be a member of a forum which will allow people to have differing opinions, and hope Lush do take me up on the offer of joining to put across their side of the story. Equally I hope HHOers will listen to their point of view and put our points across assertively.
In the mean time, I would encourage everybody to continue to write to Lush and put their concerns across to them.
