My two girls have always been out 24/7 from Spring through to Autumn. They have always happily come in at night from beginning of November! They go out at 5.30am during week during winter and then a bit later at weekends. My one mare has always been an angel to handle but she did have a tendon injury last August which resulted in box rest and surgery. She finally started going out in February but was then out 24/7 by end of April. I made the decision to bring them in on Friday night but my one mare, instead of walking into her stable as I took off her headcollar did a runner around the yard! Our other mare then tried to drag me round too! She tried to do the same tonight! This is so strange as in past winters, they have loved coming into stuff their faces! Anyone else got horses who don't want to come in at night?

Mine are not so keen at the moment there is so much grass they would be happy to stay out but having them in is preserving it so they will be able to enjoy it for longer, it is currently tipping down here so I am sure they are better off in eating hay.

I'm only bringing my tb when the weather isn't nice.
So I dont decide until I read the forecast and seen what the sky looks like.
We moved to out new yard only a few months ago and they can stay out 24/7 all year if we want.

He's so much happier and safer at this place and the fields are so much nicer, he tells me when he wants to come in or stay out!

Mine can stay out 24/7 if I wanted them too as I can do what I want with my field! However, I'm trying to preserve my grazing so thought it best to bring them in! It is probably 2 acres and quite well draining but don't want to trash it by leaving them out all the time! My mare is now retired but my daughter's pony is in work and clipped! I have to admit it is easier having her in at night so she can be ridden! They tend to come in around 6 pm at night and have lots to munch on! They still come flying up to gate when I call them! Hope they start cooperating about coming in at night! Only around 4 months to go!

Mine are never out overnight at this time of year but are still out 24/7 unless the weather is really bad. They dont want to come in- and when I go to the yard in the morning to give them breakfast it takes me 30 mins to get them to come from the other side of their 10 acre field cause they just ignore me - and I have also noticed they are not eating all of their hay on the nights they are in as we still have grass growing in the fields as of last week - so they still have plenty to eat and are still in our summer fields!!!! This is unprecedented and defo a first for us
