is going in for her spay on monday :-(

Am not looking forward to it one bit! Have already told hubby that I cannot be the one to take her and leave her!

Poor Molly has no idea whats coming :-(

I know how you feel Im a terrible worrier. When Diesel went to be neutered I worried myself silly that he may have VWD and bleed to death, although he had been blood tested and a donor was on standby just in case.

When he came home the first night I got up on the hour to check him through the night.

Molly will be fine and its a responsible thing you are doing not to mention eliminating the dogs off your door step.:D

We foster dogs for a rescue organisation all the time so have lots of experience with neutering dogs

Of course it is a big operation but a relatively low risk one. So fingers crossed all goes well! But usually they recover fairly quickly, usually still a bit out of it when they come home after the operation but the vets should give you good pain killers to help keep her comfortable. We found, if you can, have their bed somewhere they are used to and try to keep the room dark and quiet for the first night just so they can sleep off the anesthetic in peace. Also boiled rice and chicken is good for the first day after the op as their tummy is usually a little sensitive. She will be back on her feet and running around like a mad thing in no time!!

They are far better having it done and I have read many a times that neutered dogs live 2-3 years longer then un-neutered dogs, and have far less health problems. It really annoys me when people say stuff like ''she wants a litter'' and breed just for the sake of it....aghhh!!!

Thanks guys.

Molly has now been done, and I picked her up at 3pm, she is looking very sorry for herself and is quite subdued.

I have fed her chicken and rice which was suggested (thank you, it went down a treat!), but have a concern about her drinking....or lack of it!! Is it normal ? she has licked water off my fingers, when I tried to tempt her to drink but that is it. And also she has not been for a wee yet either, again is this normal?

Sorry for firing loads of questions.

Thanks

I believe she isnt drinking because she would have been on a drip so is fully hydrated, dont know why she isnt weeing yet though.

Glad it all went well and hope she is up and about as normal soon.
