For only the 3rd time since my mum had major back surgery 4 years ago we went for a hack! She doesn't want to go charging around the countryside any more, and even before the back surgery she'd lost a lot of confidence and hadn't ridden regularly for a good 10 years.
We only went a mile up the road and back in walk, and her ankle and foot were very sore, but she was pleased that it was better than last time she rode (this time last year).
seems such a little thing really, and a bit of a pointless post!
