my nearly 5 year olds first time xc !!

What a beautiful mare! I don't usually like coloureds (or mares!) but she is really lovely and so thrilling when they take everything new in their stride :):)

My, aren't people quick to criticise!:confused::( I don't have many views on her breeding but she could easily be a WB/TB/cob cross or even WB/TB? I had a friend with a trotter x whose difficulty mastering canter was the giveaway rather than the conformation. Good luck with her!

Thanks for that, well she has a lovely canter and no probs going into canter, so maybe not trotter

:)

It's amazing isn't it - I can watch a video and think well overall not bad, and then I'll take a few stills of about 15 seconds worth and and suddenly have a list of at least 10 things to work on. :D

Yeah it's quite depressing actually :o. I do a lot of slow mo clips as well and they are very good for showing you every little detail :D

eh not to steal OPs lime light ... but i do the total opposite and creap my hand further up the neck then needed as im paranoid about gobbing the horse.

What is worse ?

Amateur.:p

I throw myself forward and grab the two handles provided on all horses..............other people call them ears.:D

disclaimer
I don't really but as this is H&H forum thought I'd better make that clear..............................

I have my mum yelling " SQUASH THE SPIDERS" at me as i literally crawl my hands up like a spider :D

Sometimes i just crawl up the neck all together and perch between the ears ;)

The criticism wasnt even that bad it was only people saying you need to give a little more with your hands and straight away you jumped on the defensive!

Nobody is perfect obviously, I have loads of things wrong with my riding but Im glad when people point them out because then I go home and I work harder and become a better rider because of it

Criticism doesnt mean you are bad but it can make you better!

As she is young and showing plenty of ability you need to do everything you can to make sure she continues to enjoy jumping!

I put post up though to find info on breeding and because we had a fab day...I do know I should release more but tbh that's why I have lessons instructors etc to improve... I didn't put it up to ask what I was doing wrong (I already know I have issues) but to just show a fun day xc with a baby who I thought was fab for first time out the pics were to show the horse not me however I knew people would just jump on my riding and faults etc, sometimes this forum makes you a little defensive as most posts end up the same way !!

But I have taken onboard what people have said and yes I will make sure next time I try and release more and I need to allow her more freedom to use her neck..... it was our first time ever doing solid jumps (other than logs out hacking) and so yes I was behind the movement a lot of the time as didn't know how or if shed jump but once we got over them once it was a bit more harmonious :)

And instructor told me not to get infront of the movement (my usual habbit with other mare) because she needed to be able to get her front feet off the floor without all my weight over her head :)

Im sure we will get there in the end !

I understand exactly what you mean, you defintaely have to ride defensively with babies and stay slightly behind the movement as you never know what they are going to do!

I know this forum can be awful sometimes, iv been on the recieving end of some horrible remarks but I didnt think anything too bad was said here but I guess critism wasnt why you put up this thread so il keep my mouth shut from now on :D
