I really wouldn't advertise on Project horses, seems to be full of overpriced parelli rejects and hes not really a problem ned hes just young pushy and bad mannered.
Wildwest, I think you are doing exactly the right thing in selling hiom - life is too short to be made miserable by the wrong sort of pony! Where abouts in the country are you?
oh you poor thing. i really feel for you. it would be a real shame to sell him for half of what you paid 6 weeks ago.
what do you think they did differently to make him worth £1800 when you bought him? was he good to handle then?
would it be possible to send him off to be sold? someone who can get him back to being polite and sell him for a % cut?
Not all the ones I have seen are because I have seen some very nice sorts on there, in fact my friend was once interested in a few.
He may be young and bolshy but in my opinion he is still a project because you don't want a pony like him at his age falling into the wrong hands that don't have the skills and knowledge to help him through his faults.
A website that is for projects should attract people who are experienced and want a challenge. It wouldn't hurt to think about putting him on there anyway would it?
Unfortunately, as I've learnt, if you're not very hard on some cobs they turn into complete arseholes. If you're not that way inclined as a handler then you're on a hiding to nothing (excuse the pun).
Sell him on (I'd say £1000 is a fair price if he jumps and will probably be great for a gutsy small teenager) and get something a bit older that has already had manners instilled.
pics emailed to you varkie hopefully you can put them on here for me :}
clipcloppop............thankyou id love someone to take him to sell.
everything was done right next to old owners big tb who threatened to bite him each time he moved .
so the little fella had to stand still . it all makes sense now.
just didnt at the time :{
hes more interested in my partners mare than listening to me.

This post made me think about this anyway but after reading the above are you sure hes not a rig?? Cause my friends 5yr old was and she had him re gelded a few months back and now he is an abseloute star, just a thought
I was in the same position as you a few months ago. I had a 14hh bolshy traditional cob who just took the mick with me because I'm only slightly built and quite nervous. A few sessions with a dually halter sorted him out on the ground completely but he was still too strong for me when ridden. I sold him for £2400 though to a 'stronger' adult who would take no messing (although she was very kind) and they're doing very well together. I now have an old New Forest pony who suits me down to the ground. I think you're doing the right thing as I think you know after a short while whether a horse is suitable or not, I certainly did and by selling him, he's happier and has a happy owner. Life's too short!

I really want a pony like this!!!
I know that sounds mental... but I want a project, i'm not just crazy!
If you ship him up north and will take £1 for him I'll have him now
On a serious note to the OP, we have all had experiences with horses that don't suit us. It sounds like you are at the end of your tether and selling is the right option. Good luck
I am sorry to hear about your experience and hope you find the right home for him. Cobs are often underestimated and thought of as ploddy but some are quite lively. Without seeing a photo of your pony it is hard to say what he worth - if he has good markings and conformation and moves well as well as having sparkle then someone interesting in showing coloureds maybe interested and you could get a decent price for him.
You could try advertising him on coloured contacts
I am quite a nervous rider and I have a NF - as a breed they are often breed to be gentle in nature and easy to handle and might be worth looking at for your replacement pony. I got my NF when he was 5 and he is now 7 he is very brave and lovely to hack out he gets a bit excited jumping but that is about it. The none show quality ones are often reasonably priced too.

I would personally put him up for £1500 aswell, I personally wouldn't want to put him up for under £1000 as it may bring the wrong sort of people,

What she said
If he's show quality and you are honest about his behaviour I would imagine you'll have plenty of people interested in him.
agree, life is too short - and if you feel that strongly then it will just make you miserable trying to sort him out! I would be inclined to maybe find a sales livery so he gets worked and nicely squashed.
And if you just want an older straightforward hack - why dont you contact/.look at the veteran horse society ? that is exactly what they have and their ads are really honest!
thanks for the kind words guys.
still looking for someone who can add a pic for me :}
then you can better judge his value ?
just checked out veteran horse website ......prince is nice
