Imported horses are graded as at age of import when 1st registered with BD as it is assumed that they have been schooled/competing to a level appropriate to their age in Germany/Holland etc.
from memory a horse imported as a 4 yr old would have 37 points - a 5 yr old would have 74 points (I stand to be corrected on the numbers as I can't lay my hands on the BD rulebook this evening)
You can apply to have them downgraded if you have no proof of date of importation - if you were going to go down that route, it would better to have it done sooner rather than later, while he's still green before you school him to the point they don't believe you!

Its about £80 to have them accessed by someone, then they decide what level they are at and give them points to their ability! Just contact BD.
If your doing unaffiliated stuff, then you can do what you like!
