Hi all,

I've just bought my first horse and I pick him up on Sunday.

He is 9 years old, Welsh Section D x Hackney

I'm planning to do a bit of dressage, jumping, cross country and hacking

What do you think?

Gorgeous .. but very chunky for a welsh d x hackney!

But i may be wrong not a expert on either breed :)

We think Hon's a welsh d x hackney or somthing finer because of her riduculasly high knee action lol ...

He is very cute, the kind of horse I would want to groom all day and look pretty!

What a lovely little yard there too! Very neat and tidy!

:D:D looks like a nice type that you could do a bit of everything with. love the first pic!!! you will have to be careful with his weight as he looks like a good dooer and is quite chunky now. im sure once you get riding him he will slim down a bit. better to be a bit lean this time of the year as the grass is pretty good(at least it is at my yard).....hope you have lots of fun with him..:D:D

Thank you very much everyone, he is a bit of a chunky monkey, but he is wearing a grazing muzzle and doesn't get any feed, but he has only be working every other day so once he is worked every day im sure he will change

He's got such a sweet nature, but very cheeky

Bless him

He is absolutely lovely - you are going to have lots of fun with him!

I have a cob x hackney - just posted a pic under my 4 legged family but it's not a body shot. Mine is definitely a chunky girl, pretty similar shape I would think. When I first got her she couldn't canter so instead her trot used to get more & more powerful and it really is something to feel! Now she's schooled & we are a bit more refined in our work she has the most amazing trot. I hate dressage but have done some ODE's with her so have had to put the work in & the dressage judges always comment on her beautiful trot. You will probably have the same thing so that's something to look forward to :-)

He is gorgeous, my first pony was a palomino and I still love the colour. As one person once described to me as him being every little girls dream!! And he was. All the best with him xx

eatonbraynat - Samson is his name

cinammontoast - yes, he has lost weight which isnt a bad thing, he has alot of worms when i first got him, hes all clear now :D

Thanks for your comments, when i look back on his pictures his hair looks so much brighter and he looks amazing, not so chubby bless him.

I'm enjoying every minute, cannot wait to start competing

Thanks.

He looks like a super horse! So glad it's all going well :)

Please, please, please remove the barbed wire or at least run electric tape in front of it with a gap between the two.

Caused by barbed wire.

Faracat - now that looks painful. Did the horse recover? We cant do anything about the fencing :(

Booboos - he is getting worked 6 days a week, either lunging or being ridden, i think his weight is just right now, don't want it to drop any more
