Pointless post but after 6 years of waiting my new stables are nearly finished! The internal panels are being made, the floor has been concreted, just need to finish the vented cladding and downspouts and they'll be ready for mats and haybar, and of course, Yas!

Only problem is now we also have Pandora the mini Shetland so she will have to use the tack room space this winter until we start phase 2 (2 more bays - 2 more stables and a workshop) next spring!

And where are the pictures please madam!! :-DDD we want to ooh and ahhh :-)

Don't worry, they'll be up as soon as the panels are in, they are making them as we speak! It's taken ages to get this far as hubby has been so busy and have had two babies in the meantime!

I remember asking you LandL for advice when we started, you had some lovely pics of your barn!

How exciting!! I'm hoping to have my new stables up in the next month. Land all levelled, concrete base going down this weekend (if dry), stables all made ready to be errected with the exception of internal partitions too. One thing I can't decide on is the height of the internal partitions between the stables? and whether to go for a grill/mesh section so horses can see each other? What have you gone for?

And yes agree with L&M we need pictures :D

I've gone for the same height inside as outside, so 4'6 wood below, 3' grilles, grilles across the front apart from above the door, then the side panels will be the same height but will have 2/3 wood above, with the first third as a talk grille.

I had wondered if there was a recommended size/ design but now - I guess you just choose what you want!

Good luck with the concrete! We managed to get ours down just before it rained last week and it set beautifully! Xx

Thanks, although weather forecast is not looking favourable for this weekend, but I'm keeping everything crossed!

Are yours internal stables/barn type arrangement? So many design options, its hard to choose! Mine are external/loosebox stables, so they are wood to the roof on the external walls and I just need to decide on partition heights inside and whether to have talk grilles or not.

Bet you can't wait to try them out! It's very exciting!! xx

I can't wait! It's been such a long wait. We had the same choices to make but in the end went for a steel portal framed building, with internal partitions and tack room. It's only 20ft by 20ft at the moment, but we intend it to be 20ftx60ft when we add the other two bays next year.

My husband is a farmer and a perfectionist, and has done the external work (steel frame, beams, roof, concrete side panels and concrete floor) himself, hence why it has taken so long but he has caved in and got the contractor they use for the farm sheds to do the internal panels, otherwise the horses would be living in a barn this winter! He has been there this lunchtime to inspect them so I know they'll be up to his high standard...!!!

They'll be in this week so I'll take some pics for you. Actually, have just this minute changed the spec on the side partitions from 2/3 grilles to 1/2 grille and half timber - beauty of having them done locally I guess!

I share your excitement! Mine have just been finished and I moved my lad over yesterday for his first night in his new stable! What makes it even better is before he had a mobile stable in a field with crappy floor and muddy conditions all year. Now he has a flat concrete floor with nice rubber mats and lovely conditions...I hope he appreciates it as much as me!!! This is is second evening and he is happily munching as if nothing has changed!

Low (leaky) roof and was very tiny (14ft deep by only 8ft wide) with cobbled floor which we were only supposed to use for one winter - ended up being five so this will be the height of luxury for me and my mare!
