My night vigils start tonight

I feel the same as you. Just started Amy on stud balancer - can't believe where the time has flown.
 
With a bit of luck she will wait till she knows it is quiet.
But i have one mare that will come in from the field eat her tea and get down and foal within the hour of coming in.
Literally as soon as you get in front of the CCTV.
You know she is going to have it that day so are ready.
Have even had them get down and foal while doing evening tea round at 5pm.
That said we have had some leave it till 5am in the morning which is really knackering as no sleep then all night and day.
 
This all sounds like a lovely experience and this foal will be so 'yours' after all these nerves, emotions and time spent on being around the mummy-Hannah

Not to worry you mine started her foaling at 10pm and Casper popped out just before 10.30pm. I know what you are about to go through I had 7 foalings last year and spent more time in the caravan than at home. Then one of the little buggers decided to have one at 11am. They always have it when then think your back is turned! Best of luck hope it goes well.
 
Thanks very much... Just hoping she will not keep me waiting for too long and caravan nights are kept to a minimum. But knowing Hannah, I will be in there for a month!!!
 
lots of luck!!! i slept down stairs in living room where our monitor for cctv was and set my alarm every hour to check on Tina, and could watch her of an evening while watching tv - which is when she started it was about 10ish and she started pacing around her box then when i went to check on her she'd started to sweat up etc etc

GOOD LUCK! i def need to see photos of Fin's bro or sis
 
Awww i know how you feel at college i did the stud management course an we each had to spend a few nights watching the preg mares. I remember my one night i had checked on her before going to sleep, had nap and the foaling alarm went off so called my lecturer and then went to check on her, the foaling alarm had swung round her belly she wasnt foaling grr that was annoying!!! Turns out that mare had hers in the field in broad daylight i missed it all

I second this. For the first time in 20 years of breeding my friends mum had a horsebox with living so could watch her 2 mares throughout the night. The first one due was 2 weeks late (maiden mare) and the other was 4 weeks late!!!! And she wasn't maiden

Needless to say she was VERY tired in the end, lol.
