So never really talked about my retired mare, her name's Pansy Potter and she will be 22 this may. All her life she was a successful show jumper only unaffiliated but she was always in the red ribbons. Anyway 2 years ago my friend was out hacking with her and she stumbled on a stone and went slightly lame, since she has never become sound. She's had nerve blocks, Im not joking pretty much everything, we spent so much money, vets think its something in her pastern/tendon area.
Now and again I put her in our menage so she can have a play, change of scenery. On sunday she was chasing my mum round for a pack of mints and looked completely sound even in trot. I thought Id just have a sit on her (whilst she was standing still) then all of a sudden she saw my mum again and pegged it, quite a fast trot (whilst I was still on her back, with no hat, reins or saddle!
) she was completely sound and was happy to carry me around. I got off her once she stopped trotting round but its not like she wanted to stop. If it was on the concrete she probably would of been slightly lame still, I dont really know what to think, do you think this will be okay to do now and again if she wants too? Can it all of a sudden go away after two years, she is on msm and danalon. Opinions?
