Husband hasn't really competed for two years as his mare had a crack in her hoof, which meant a year and more of box rest, tons of money on remedial shoeing etc, and he was really fed up.
Then he smashed his heel earlier this year so couldn't ride even though she was ok.
Today he and CCJ took her and Devil mare Jonty (who has been a baggage all week ) indoor SJ at The Grange, it was very cold and they've only just come home.
Husband got one fence wrong so didn't get placed in that class (only 2' 6"-2' 9") but CCJ came second after a blistering round on a totally well behaved Jonty, they then went in the Pairs Class which was a relay with a baton, and WON that!!!
Lovely Christmassy rosettes plus £30, and they came home to a hamper delivery from one of our livery customers, so we'll be drinking and eating tonight free..
We plan to advertise Jonty after the New Year, she's certainly not easy, but for the right rider she's a star..It's very rare for her not to get a rosette at anything she does.
I wouldn't mind, she only went as a replacement because when the hunt passed yesterday Jacques threw a shoe so couldn't go..
It looks like we may be doing a few more competitons indoors after today.. may do some BSJA on a ticket so both horses can jump some decent size courses.
I had a lovely day, didn't mange to cure the leaking wall in the feedroom but both trees are up and it feels lovely in our house now..
