My Parelli post

I think all of us need to realise when reading and responding to posts that what we read is not necesarily the truth or really what is happening.

In this case it was a joke, and an effort to liven up a lately rather dull forum, however sometimes it is peoples vivid imaginations or blatent lies for reasons unknown to anyone but the poster.

But then life is like that so my advice is do not take it too seriously, then you can't get stung.

I don't mind, everyone can do what they want as far as I'm concerned, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people are unwilling to spend time replying to you if you ask for advice in future.
That said, Shilasdair for example, retains plenty of respect and she does this regularly.

Flame, I have no idea what you are talking about as I only have, and have only ever had two accounts on HHO, neither secret.
And generally, when I reply to a horsey post or query, I do so with the best advice I can offer.

I agree I do start threads on some odd subjects in SB, but because I am curious about a lot of things, and am interested in sometimes slightly abstract ideas; you don't have to read them or reply if you don't choose to.

If you believe I have troll account/s, you are sadly mistaken, as I say what I think as me, all too honestly at times.

Perhaps. I don't know, I think there is a difference between Naturally thread where, yes she did start off messing around, however before the thread ended, she came clean; therefore telling everyone she was messing around - hence, joke. Lying is quite something else in my opinion.

i disagree, i don't think she did start off "messing around", i wasn't the only one who thought she was serious and genuinely had done what she said she had. there was nothing to point to the fact that it was a spoof imho... i'm not THAT naive and gullible! i thought she only came clean about it in a different thread, tbh.
lying = saying you did something, when it didn't happen at all, in my book.
i'm probably taking it too seriously, but i don't like being tricked like that.
some of the obvious wind-ups have been clever and funny, but i think they're very different from this one!
oh well, i'll be very much more careful which posts (and posters) i bother replying to in future.

Have to agree with you. I haven't been on properly for a few days so not been in NL (just photo gallery) so when I saw "My parelli post" I thought I'd read it later and read posts from a few days ago first. When I read Naturally's orginal post saying she had been to America I stupidly believed it too. I am so glad I only read it now and didn't post on there! I don't think it really is a joke when most of the people on the forum are not in on it; the nature of jokes tend to be to amuse more than just the perpetrators. I'm not so silly that I believe everything anyone says on here is the truth but surely we shouldn't have to open every post thinking "Is this a joke?", this is suppose to be a place where information, advice and experiences can be swapped after all. There are many forums/chat rooms on the internet where the OP can step into an alter ego role and act out her fantasies - HHO shouldn't be one of them.

TBH, it was pretty apparent to me it was a wind up from the very beginning... and if I had any doubts about it, they were all gone by the time Naturally called JM a 'pony eater'.
However, I do think the joke was fairly poor and very badly timed.
I also think some of the yesterday's trolls are regular users, who decide for reasons only known to themselves, that it would be a great idea to post some cr*p. Some of them even claimed to have a deeper purpose in doing so, investigative work etc - what a load of tosh.

I think there is a lot of excellent information and advice available in the NL. It is a great place to pick up top class , sensible knowledge from a wealth of posters.

I don't believe however the NL is the place for a bunch of pals to get together and have a laugh at everybody else expense.

I don't understand the mentality behind it, the NL is a place for factual advice NOT jokes.

If you want to have an in joke because you are bored, or having a dull day it would be better if you did it in the Soapbox. which is at least not open to browsers. Better still, keep to MSN.

I do hope that was QR

I too wasted time reading it and actually thought "Can't be bothered responding to this idiot!"
I think I'd be more worried about the real parelli lawyers coming after you than the outing on the forum, if many of us believed it they could say you are doing their image harm...

Exactly, wish I'd put it that well.
I feel as if I'm coming across as a right humourless old witch about this, but the reply above hits the nail on the head - I'm a bit sore that a bunch of people thought it would be a real laugh to post something like that and see which of us were gullible enough to take it seriously.
please can those who were in on it, or anyone who has read the whole thing and could so-easily spot who the trolls were and who weren't, list them here, so i know who to avoid reading or replying to in future, because i obviously am that gullible!

I think it is disappointing as you did not make it obvious it was a joke, or it woul dhave been taken as intended as a joke, and winding people up is not much fun.

I nearly went onto the thread to defend, to say if that's what Naturally wanted to do with her money then it's her right to do so. Whilst this Forum is most definately not pro-Parelli, there is no need for condemnation (I'm thinking of the good points of Parelli and not the rest of it, just as I think of the good points of most horse people), and as I tend to stick up for the under-dog I would have defended Naturally to the hilt.

Really glad I didn't bother. You want to do that sort of thing Naturally, go to SB or the Common Room.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant to say, and you were just the most frequent one that came to mind, that you post "trick" threads under your own name like Naturally, to make a point. For example when you asked for advice about what to do with your old dog.

I did not mean to imply that you have multiple usernames, however I do think your threads are not always straightforward requests for advice, and sometimes are a total wind up. Not that you are the only one, just perhaps the best at it.

Whilst I think that NL can sometimes use the odd 'one-liner', such a wind-up as this is really not on. If you had made it clear by use of some obvious joke within the OP, then it would have been acceptable. To make people believe it was real was wrong.

Naturally has now owned up although not apologised, has had three pages of telling off, and will no doubt have learnt by her mistake. (hopefully anyhow)

Shall we move on?
