Well Mouse has had an easy christmas off competing as she did so much last year, so i thought i would have a trundle up to patchetts just to get us both out
the plan was just to do the last class but i got there and they were still on the first! so i thought i may aswell put her in the second class too,
so i went and got organised and then warmed up,
Now Mouse hasn't s/j inside scince March last year when we did a Newcomers at Merrist wood then we had our big fall at patchetts in a newcomers so then we did loads of hunter trials and x-c, so this was our first showjumping for ages
so i warmed up then mum came in a put a x pole up for me, so popped her into canter 4 stides out she took hold lept bucked and jumped ! mum was like what was that

Mouse is strong jumping (ridden in a pelham with 2 reins) but not a nutter!!
she then settled and we then went into the ring, i put her into a nice canter and went round to the first fence which she proceeded in jumping massive and a stride out sent me flying (she has a very powerfull jump), i landed with no reins and 1 strurip so managed to get reins sort of back and aimed her for fence two, which she spoted and just took off at so forgot about stirup and just grabed reins then i tried to run her in to a wall to stop befor fence 3 to try and recover slightly but oh no she was off again and did fence 3 and fence 4 a double completly out of control, it was such a mess then the saddle started to slip it was tight to start with as i checked it and so did my mum (its our little rutine) so she then jumped fence 5 still at 100mile per hour and she then was planning on jumping fence 3 backwards so managed to grab a rein and pull her round to jump fence 2 bacwards as this was only an upright were as fence 3 was a spread,
needless to say we were elimnated !!

ive never laughed so much in my life it was a mess so i then went on to do the next class with a few additions to the tack including Roundings so i could concentrate on 1 rein (never normally a problem)martingale and i lossed the whip!!
and she was alot better still very forward but it was more controlled and had just one down due to mix up of comunications between horse and rider,
so interesting day altogether

i think im going to take her to snowball next week to see what happens,

Bless her at least she enjoyed herself

Thought I saw you there, was warming up for the 85cm the same time as you. And mouse didn't half take a pull into those warm up fences!

Sounds like she was just so glad to be out at a party again. Even though you had a hairy first round, am sure you were glad she was so enthusiastic and enjoyed herself.

i put her down to the smaller classes again as i thought when she fell badly in the 1.10 class last year it may have knock her confidence
obversly not!!

her confidence didn't look that affected!! I was on bay with pelham and my purple jacket! I timed the busy time for jumping!

[/ QUOTE ]

no it wasn't !!
i can't remember your horse do you have a pic? it may ring a bell if see a pic, i was to busy concentrating on stopping !!
did you see here standing with me in the warm up though standing there like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth!! it was only when she saw the fence she was off !!

no pic, it was my sisters horse that i was riding!
horses are like that, they do that me do something wrong oh never look!!

I would say I was on a tense, psycho horse but yesterday she was as calm as anything, doing nothing wrong!!

Oh bless her! Lots of jumping now just to be sure the pulling isnt actually a lack of confidence issue and she is panicking and jumping blind to get it over and done with!

thanks for that Weezy, do you think i should keep at the same height 95cm to 1m ? i was just going to do another BN and Disc then move her up again
she was doing 3'3'' hunter trails in october last year quite happly and plan to BE this year, the fall was on easter sunday (06) but she came down hard and it did scare her to the point we had a couple of stops (she has never stoped before) the next time we went out and she was really backing off which is why i took her x-c to get her flowing again,
her is the picture if you can make it out, they had one of her on top of me but they said that they had to delete it, she came of worse though

Personally I would stick to 1m until she is jumping in the way YOU want her to and is full of confidence and stops, for want of a better phrase, holding her breath (which is what she could be doing but equally she could just be absolutely LOVING being back!) Think of it this way, you can jump her over 1m out of an almost standstill if necessary, the courses will be less technical and you can concentrate on her and her rhythm - go up to NC and you have a far more demanding course to negotiate, not smply bigger fences!

You do know her better than anyone tho and this way of going could simply be because she has learnt to go forwards from her XC training

thanks, that makes alot of sence, im planning to take her out again next weekend to do a 3' and 3'3'' class so will see how that goes, she has always been a forward jumper but yesturday in the first class she was mad the second was alot better and i was pleased with her.

thank you again for your advise its greatfully recived
Hx
