The spring started with young ponies in one herd, older ponies in another. They’ve mixed around now and gradually split off. Two dark bay (look black) best friends…two bay mare best friends, coloured Shetlands together (who have now added in the coloured cob and coloured youngster). They’ve gradually sorted themselves into little groups of ponies who look alike!

Not sure if the novelty will wear off in time but it has been amusing watching them gradually split up into similarly coloured groups!

Anyone else ever seen anything similar?

Ours are all screech chestnut, except The Dressage Divo who is a grey. Well, mud-coloured really, but grey after the mud has been chipped off.

I remember reading a BHS set book for the 1980’s which mentioned that horses would often befriend others of the same colour.
How funny! I wondered if they look for friends that look like their mothers or something.

Did you buy the pony with the crack in there hoof? Just wondering how they got on?
No we didn't. Tow car broke spectacularly before we could collect; consequently my budget (as well as ability to actually go and get the pony in a timely fashion) did a nosedive through the floor so had to pull out of the sale.

Mine used to be the only one in her field with a blaze, so I didn't have to bother putting my glasses on to identify her. Now there are three of them, and they don't even have the courtesy to graze together. (You can guarantee that mine is the one standing in the middle of the huge, muddy puddle, though.)
