My ponies old owner.

I took a pony on loan 3 years ago from a friend and after having him on loan for the year the old owner said I can keep him and change the ownership on his passport into my name so she gave him to me. He since has been on full loan to a friend of mine for around a year at the same yard as me all fine. Old owner is now trying to too take him back and has even tried to sell him to my loaner! And extort money from her if she can’t have him back. I don’t want this pony to go back to the old owner as he is happy and loved where he is but does have a lot of issues that have obviously come from old owner as she had him from a foal . She has threatened to go and take him although I’m not 100 per cent sure she even knows where he is. She has threatened to come to my house! She is not local to me. I’m trying so hard to keep the peace it’s driving me mad. Does she have any legal rights? I have a few screen shots from Facebook that states he is mine from a year or so ago I’m so tired with it all. I honestly just want to bloke her but worried about the repercussions.

So you have owned the pony for 2 years, and put it out on loan a year ago? What happened at the point that you were given the pony? Do you have anything other than screenshots to confirm the gift and did you change the passport at the time? The passport doesn't prove legal ownership, but changing it at the time of the screenshotted information could be helpful additional evidence. If you think that the previous owner would take the horse, I would warn the YO so they are aware of what is going on.

My horse was gifted to me too after loaning for a few years. We did a bill of sale for £1 so I have that as well as the email from his previous owner outlining that she wanted to gift him to me.
