Am in a state of absolute flutter and forgetfulness- am so excited that my pony can go out and be a horse again!
Sorry for the random positive post but I moved to a new yard in September and since then he has practically been in the whole time (Dec to now) The vet and farrier coordinated today and watched him trot up (maaaajor explosion) and lunge (I was told to get a hat and gloves before I was allowed to lunge the ferocious 4 hooved flying machine) then Vet said go for it, before I get killed walking him out daily.

He can go in a smallish field for a month, then he can be turned away and even....even.....have all of his shoes off!! Including his horrible special needs orthopedic wedges that have minged his heels up!!

Although I dont expect anyone to care its just a huge relief off my shoulders to have a decision and a new time scale to work on, Prittstick may be even more pony-less but its for the good of him-not me.

I can understand your relief too, I have one on boxrest and long for the day I am told she can actually leave her stable!

Good luck with it all.

He has tears in the dep digital flexor tendons right down in the hoof capsule...diagnosed mid August. Cant wait to watch him roll and eat grass continuously! Will Grace be turned away or will you start working again when you are allowed?

She will be worked asap

She has had four months off already, and they like you working them after the operation too so I thought I would be bringing her back anyway so she might as well stay in work

But I am hoping that once she is at a certain level she can start being turned out for an hour at first, and then hopefully by summer when the fields are a little better she can have full days out... that would be such a lovely achievement!

Cav baby says NOOOOO to enforced imprisonment. He has learnt many many new skills- most of them airborne either in his box or with me on him. I think the game is "how many planks can fall off my stable wall" or "how far can mum fly"..
He has been off for 9 months so is only fair that 9 months is his minimum holiday unless he doesnt take to being out, have a few doubts....

Thats great news really pleased for you makes you feel so much better when they can go out.Im doing a month of walking at moment 11 more days and he can trot feeling really optimistic too.

My old boy was on box rest for 5 months and it is heartbreaking seeing then stuck in .... mine was on strict box rest and was only allowed out briefly for the Vet and Farrier visits and was not even allowed to be tied up outside in the fresh air and sunshine
