Does anyone know if its okay for him to do so. He's a good doer so the field he is roughish grazing but over the last couple of years a few reeds (or rashes as we'd call them here) are appearing.

Caught my pony wiring into them last night and his poop this morning is a definate tan colour (as if he's been strictly on hay). He's totally fine in himself and was pooping and peeing this morning. The field is just over an acre with two 13.2hh ponies. It wasn't grazed at all last year and hasn't ever been fertilized.

I'm wondering if he's missing someething in his diet. He has access to rock salt and restricted use of a mineral block (Horselyx type which he only gets for a few minutes a day).

My old girl loves munching on reeds, so I wouldn't worry about it. Mind you, she is a bit odd because she loves dock sticks too!
