My pony has started napping again. I have had her 6 months and she did try it on for a few months and then it stopped and for the past 3 rides she has started napping again.
I know it isn't pain related because, we have had her feet checked, new saddle fitted change of bit, dentist etc etc and she lunges perfectly past the gate and doesn't napp at all, and my instructor manages to stop her napping but she makes it very difficult. she will either head straight towards the gate ignoring any pulls and kicks, she will then push her self against it so its impossible kick her forward because she pushes me right against the gate. so i usually dismount, take her to the end of the school and ride very positively look past the gate but she will still head straight for the gate, and sometimes does small rears (more like kicks)
she is just 7, and a mare and a pony and cob so she is strong willed. she wasn't brocken in till late and i know she is just trying it on. I always get on at the end of the school and try to do upward transitions near the gate, i have been told to kick and ride forward bt because she pushes me next to the gate its hard to simply kick. does anyone have any advice? she is a fantastic pony when she isn't napping . and she doesn't do it all the time. it is very frustrating and i just need some tips to stop her napping sometime i ride her through it and other times it feels impossible! x
