Hi all, just wanted your opions on this situation.
My 12year old 16.1 Heavy was acting a little strange tonight. When i went into his field to get him in for bed i walked towards the rest of the herd then another livery pointed out i had walked straight passed him and he was at the bottom of the field (a big on sided valley) as far away from the herd as possible. I called him up and reluctantly he came up but as he did so he gave two loud whinnies at me (i have owned him 7 years and he has never done this also although he is ok in the field on his own when out he is nearly always with his best mate or at least close to the herd) so he gets to the top and walks straight passed me when i caught up with him is coat was full of dried sweat. (i hacked him this morning and he was a little sweaty under his saddle but tonight he was head to toe sweaty). I intially thought maybe he was feeling a little collicy but he passed a pooh of perfect nuggets and very normal looking. When we got him i gave him a quick brush and a good look over when i found a cut on the front of his hock smaller than a five pence piece and not deep no heat swelling etc trimmed hair back and washed it off then applyed spray.
i put him to bed and gave him his usual handfull of pony nuts for tea, he ate theese and i left him to it.
i went to plant my potatoes at the allotment and on the way home i thought id swing by the yard and check him. He seems quiet and isnt eating much hay but his stomach sounds and feels nice and healthy. i left the yard at 8 and he hadnt done another pooh since coming in at four.
so guys if this was your horse what would you be thinking or doing!
Cookies all round if you managed to read all of that!!!
