Just when things where starting to look good for Lucy and I. This happened.

I was out riding her like normal. She was being very cheeky and kept stopping to look at stuff then pretending she was scared  and trying to grab a snack every 5 seconds . I asked her to trot and off she went like a mad trotting giraffe. She started coffing. I thought it was prob her COPD as we have lots of rape around here at the mo . We carried on trotting for a bit mainly because i couldn't stop but also to see if she stoped coffing. She carryed on so i pulled her up. We walked a while and she didn't coff again so i tried trotting again (cue the mad trotting giraffe). She started coffing so i pulled her up. Just as we stopped Lucy looked round and i saw she had blood pouring out her nose. I paniced and jumped off to have a look. God there was loads of it i've never seen anything like it. I called the vet who told me not to panic haha. She told me to lead Lucy home and put her in a stable and see if the bleeding stops. By the time i got home Lucy had wiped most of the blood off onto me but the bleeding had stopped. I phoned the vets back and they told me to leave her in with just water for 1hr then to feed her as normal. I just have to keep an eye on her. The vets hope she just coffed so much she burst something and she will be fine now but obviously there is a worry with her Amyloidosis. She hasn't had a bleed from anywhere for ages. Oh well i'll just have to wait and see i suppose.
I just want to know why is it always Lucy? I just want to sit here and cry.

O hun, how awful. But it may just look worse than it is. She may just have burst a blood vessel and she'll mend quickly. I know how you feel though - I always need to breathe into a paper bag while waiting for the vet to arrive! Try to get a good night's sleep, it could all look better in the morning. Hugs, if it helps.

Oh poor you - try not to worry (easier said than done I know!) My TB had an awful nosebleed a few years ago and was fine the next morning. He got a bit of shavings (bedding) up his nose and kept snorting - then all of a sudden there was blood everywhere!

Its very, very scarey but next morning he was as right as rain x

I can fully understand why you are worried, given Lucy's history. However, the vet knows her and has probably given you advice based on her medical condition and you can do little more than follow it. Keep her quiet and good luck, Laura.

Aww hugs to you and Lucy .. you always comment on my posts and make me feel better so thought it was only right to leave you a comment :) some of the horses at work bleed every now and then and they always end up okay, we just drop their work and then build it back up gradually and theyre okay :) it always seems to be Ethel too, so I know how you feel x

Thanks guys. I know i shouldn't worry to much and if it was another horse i would just leave it and see how they where tom, but it's hard not to worry when Lucy is conserned. She's been through so much lately and doesn't deserve anymore. :(

tonitot we make a right pair don't we. There should be some kind of support group for nurotic owners with horses who always seem to go wrong. LOL

Poor little Lucy! :( Lots of polos for her from me. Try not to worry, I'm sure it looks worse than it is (just like when we have a nose bleed) but you're right, she has had more of her fair share of problems, poor poppet. *Pets Lucy*

haha oh yes we definalty should do that :) i think Lucy and Ethel must talk to eachother and plan what they can do next to make us even more worried than we already are :p

Thanks thelwell_girl. I'm shore she will be ok she is still very well in herself wondering what all the fuss is about, as usual, bless her. Just don't know how much more i can take.
