Flora came back to the yard yesterday afternoon after having been 'missing in action' for a few hours. Don't usually worry about this, she goes off hunting over the fields for a bit with Tag and then they both come back. The running away thing has stopped now and they both stay within 'whistle hearing' distance.

But LOOK at the state of her... [cries]

Took her to the vet this AM and she's had to stay in to be stitched up. She was really miserable this morning and the vet had to drag her away for the operation - all she wanted was her mum

My other dog is fretting like crazy and cried in the vet cos I wouldn't let her follow Flora when they took her away. I bought her a pigs ear but she wouldn't eat it, she just keeps pacing round the house looking all upset.

Obviously I currently going through the 'OMG what if she doesn't come around from the anethestic' panic.

So sympathy and good luck needed please. I'm hopefully going to hear by 2 if she is all ok.

Im sure she wil be fine....I wont imagine she will be under for any length of time.....it shouldnt take long to stitch that up.
Maybe take the other dog for a walk to calm her down

Ahhh not to worry that could be sorted alright. We until recently, had an Irish Wolfhound and giant breeds are a little more susceptible to sedation/anaesthetics and he was put under 8 times in 5 years and always ( except when we had him put down obviously!) was totally fine after it!
Hope your pup is better soon. Just get in some chicken and rice for when she comes home and be prepared for a quiet pup for a while.

Good vibes on their way.

My greyhound has been stitched back up on more than one occassion under GA, I am afriad their skin is paper thin.

thanks all - she is fine now. I will post pics of the stitches on Tuesday when I'm back in the office and my mate can download the pics off my phone.

She was very very miserable when I picked her up yesterday and when I went to check the horse, she insisted on staying in the car (totally unlike her, she must have been feelin AWFUL).

But she managed to eat a bowl of raw trip (!) and slept fine and was pretty much back to normal today apart from having to wear a really silly t-shirt to protect the stitches LOL. Worry over Thank god for Petplan insurance
