I bought Herbie into his stable this morning and left him to eat his breakfast while I did the other horses. I had just started mucking out when I heard an almighty crash from Herbies end of the yard. I shot out the stable I was in and hurried down the yard. My OHs dog Gem came running down the yard and shot passed me looking very guilty. When I got to Herbies stable he was sort of staggering around with his head on the floor. Then he went to roll but changed his mind. I went into his box to find he had lost some hair on his head just above his left eye. At first he wouldn't let me touch it or look at it. He was being all sweet and cuddely though. Eventualy he let me have a look and he has only grazed his head there is no cut thank goodness.
All I can think that happened is Herbs must have been looking out his stable and Gem must have had a go at him causing him to hit his head  .
Poor Herbs has a headache now I think, as he doesn't want to eat his hay :( and he still doesn't like me touching the grazed bit of his head. He's still alert though so I'm just gonna leave him in and keep an eye on him and see how he goes. Luckly i'm around all day today. I had wanted to take him for a nice hack but I think he will have the day off.

Yeaterday he was a little star. I schooled him on the flat and we were practicing walk to canter. He was doing quite well and I though lets have a go at a simple change and he did it :D He's such a cleaver little man. Also on a good note it looks like at the mo I can stay at my current yard :D Merryn now lives out with one of the nice horses and Herbs comes in during the day and goes in one of the fields at night when the other horses come in. I just hope the fields dry up soon (although as it's raining again I can't see it to be honest :( ) otherwise when the other horses swap to summer routine Herbs will have to come in at night and only go out during the day :( But atleast for now we're ok. :D Thankyou to all those who helped out last week with suggestions of grazing. :)

Goodness that's about the 3rd horse that's whalloped their heads in the last 3 days! Buzz cut his head open + another poster mentioned their horsehad done something similar. Hope the lovely Herbie will be alright :)

Mine has some NF in him somewhere I'm convinced. Think they are quite clever...mine hates schooling, he realy doesn't see the point but likes his jumping. When I was having lessons and we were jumping I'm sure just to impress the instructor he would throw in a perfect leg change and astound my RI :D If I asked him for it? Not a chance!

MochaDun I hope Buz is ok now.
Herbie doesn't see the point in flat schooling either realy. His canter is all stuffy and bunched up, but when I jumped him on Fri he was flying round the jumps in an amazing forward canter with his ears pricked. Till I fell off ofcourse ;) :p :D I thought I'd better not jump again on sun as there where lots of people around. I didn't want to get distaracted again ;)
