My cob is really feeling the hard ground at the moment especially the stoney tracks which of course we have loads round us. Typical. Does anyone have any ideas? I have looked into a company called Vettec (a Dutch company) who make hoof gel filler almost like polyfiller which is squirted over the horses' soles and hardens almost instantly to form a barrier but I've never heard of this sort of thing. Any ideas?

I am having that problem too - she is ok in the field and on the track but our yard is stoney and she is feeling every one of them ok out hacking in boots though

Is your cob shod ? I know its obvious but being footy is one of the first warning signs of Lami, do you have a lot of grass ???

Yes he' shod but he's on very restircted turnout - like about 2 hours a day on a very bare tiny paddock. Vet was out yesterday to check and he was happy that he doesnt have laminitis. No heat in feet and weight good. He's in on soaked hay the rest of the time. He does feel the ground bless him even in the winter - it's either too soft or too hard for him. Big girl's blouse!

Hmm... interesting. Is that like the stuff that you see in the shoes (well, over the whole bottom of the hoof) of navicular shoes?
