Well I have to say I'm quite gutted :(

After 10 good years together, I have had to part with my wonderful little jodhpur boots. I have worn them pretty much every day since I bought them all those years ago and they were worth evey penny of the £40 I paid for them.

I didn't just wear them for horsey doings. They were so comfortable we went to work together, walking, we splashed in so many big mucky puddles together and they kept my feet firmly on the ground during all those harsh winters when everyone else was slipping on their @rses (I never fell once in little boots). :p

Sadly I had to make that decision to bury my loyal little friends (straight into the wheelie bin) they just weren't going to last another day.

I tried my hardest many times to save them but the superglue just wasn' holding anymore and the constant 'flip flop noise they were making from the very loose soles were driving me bonkers, so they had to go.

Ordered a new pair of boots today, I'm almost not looking forward to getting them. Will have to go through the blister stage all over again. Wonder if the new ones will put up with what I put the other ones through lol :D

So, does anyne else have any favourite horsey/rider equipment/ clothing that has never let them down and didn't want to throw away even when they were desparately beyond repair? :)

I know the feeling!
I have a joules coat I am desperately hanging on to- the zip doesn't work and there are holes in the pockets, cuffs and lining, and it has a white splodge of paint on it but I still love it! It has been really well worn in all seasons, a few times I've been soaking wet in a downpour and when I finally get to my car and put it on, it dries me out and keeps the rain off, it's that good. And, to top it off, it doesn't make that flappy noise in the wind which freaks my youngster out :) Sadly they don't make that type of coat anymore :(

I feel your pain, I lost my favourite jod boots last year, they were one of a kind, never suck or sorry but their time had come :D

I have tried to find some more friends, but to no avail :(

I think you are destined to be disappointed in the wearing qualities of boots nowadays :(

I cant see anything lasting 10 years now.

I am currently wearing a complete mess of a yard coat, Im debating whether to wash it or bin it at the moment. It might fall apart if I wash it anyway. I did get a new hi viz one, but the horses hate it  (and its stiff and not as comfy as my current rag)

RIP little boots.

Please make sure you give your new boots some time to settle in before riding. Several weeks ground work to establish a good bond will benefit both your souls. ;)

I was devistated a few years ago when my beloved aquacats when to the joddy boots place in the sky. In fact I cried. No other boots have come close to them :(
