Sort of a good/bad post really. Had a chat with vet last night as my mare's behaviour (under the saddle) has become more and more unmanageable and even dangerous (she had a bucking fit on the road yesterday - not fun

).

Anyway, took her into the clinic today (sunday appointment

) to have her ovaries scanned. No cysts thank goodness but she does have a uterine infection. Could have been rumbling away for a long time to be honest but basically it is not causing her to be ill (so no outward signs at all) but very uncomfortable for her and her hormones are all over the place (she is always in season) so might explain some of her behaviour.

Anyway, vet treated it with liquid parafin!

she was not impressed with half a litre of that inserted into her nether regions!

He took swabs and we may need antibiotics when the results come back but he thinks her behaviour should improve over the next week. I really, really hope so.

Also got our McTimoney lady coming to look at her tomorrow to rule out anything in her back - but fingers crossed please that the treatment for her hormones will make her back to her sweet self.

Good to hear that her ovaries are ok. At least you have an idea now about what was causing her unpredictable behaviour and hopefully the course of treatment from your vet will sort everything out and you can get back to enjoying your lovely horse.
