I've had my pony for 21 years and I've hardly had any trouble with her at all in all of those years. She is 25 now and had to have three very loose teeth taken out on Monday, so since then she's been having anti bi's and small amounts of bute to keep her comfortable.
She's come in today very lame. Now she has an old check ligament injury that slows her down if she's done a bit much, but that is a front leg and this is her hind. There is no mark, heat or swelling, just a small amount of puffiness above her fetlock.
She can't be box rested as she is a dreadful box walker, so I've turned her back out and I'm going to keep a close eye on her.
I've spoken to my vet who says just to keep her comfortable for a few days on the bute and see how she goes. I decided a while ago that should anything happen, tendon, ligament etc etc that I wouldn't pay out to scan her etc and as long as she was happy to mooch around in walk then I was happy. However she's noticeably lame in walk and is resting it a lot of the time. She does seem happy in herself though.
I'm just so worried about her, if it is tendon or anything similar and she's not happy I'm not left with an awful lot of options.
