I have 2 horses one is 2 the other is 17, they are turned out together and get on really well (mare and gelding) however they play really rough and when it is time to come in they do get a bit more rough and chase each other around biting each others rugs. It has got to the point where her rug looks like a patchwork quilt. I don't want to seperate them as they do enjoy each others company (a lot) and I think a horse needs to be a horse. Does anyone else have this problem???:)

My horse had his hood ripped on his rug the other day! So annoying as it was his decent heavy weight, I tend to put discenfectant on the rug which tends to keep the others away from playing with the rug!

WB39, you might want to cut your sig down to 700 x 200 before anyone pushes a button (not me or I wouldn't be blooming posting this!) as it's stretching ;)

Yes... Winter boredom is the problem - they don't antagonise eachother nearly as much in summer!

I'd echo the idea of spraying the rugs with something...foul tasting

can you put hay out? Maybe a little bit to help keep them occupied? Unfortunately we aren't allowed which with no grass is our biggest winter problem...

They have 2 very large padocks with plenty of grass must be 4-5 acres each and we swap them over regularly so they don't get bored.:) Obviously not working:D
