Having done none-to-badly in our first affiliated dressage last Wednesday (including a 7 for paces!) my little Spanish boy was very uncomfortable on Thursday. We've worried about his off-fore for a while, as he was lame on it last autumn (but came back well after a winter off) and has always landed toe-first.

I took him to the vet on Monday and he responded well to a caudal hoof nerve-block. The x-rays didn't show a lot, other than a slight shadow on his off-fore navicular bone. I got in touch with Nic and thankfully she had a space coming up at Rockley, so I took him straight down there for some barefoot bootcamp! Here's her first post on him:

All HHO vibes would be appreciated! He's only young and a hard worker, so I'm sure Nic will work her magic...

Is this your PRE that youve been taking out BD??

Im sure you will find he will come right all of my 5 are BF & ive done my own BF rehab with my WB & have had great success.

That's the one DC. I went barefoot with him 4 weeks ago to see if we can improve his landing, but we've not got the right rehab conditions at home (and it's a livery yard with a strict landlord so no option to build tracks etc.). He'll spend some time at Rockley and then hopefully my RI, who has a re-habbed navicular horse, will take him for a while as I'm going to be working abroad. He was supposed to come too but failed a blood test - it's been an extremely difficult week :(

Are you goint to be able to claim back your rehab costs from insurance or are you lucky enough to be able to afford them anyway? I only ask as I really wish I could send my mare there but just can't afford it :-(

We're paying for it, but it's no more expensive than our usual livery (he was on part-livery and Berkshire is very expensive) so it's not a problem. I know some insurance companies do pay though?

My boy Dillon is at Rockley at the moment too!

I am off to visit him tomorrow for the first time since I took him there 3 weeks ago - I can't wait, if I see your boy I will be sure to say hello to him!

Fingers crossed it all works out for him down there. I read Nic's posts/blogs with great interest and think it sounds like they are doing some amazing rehab work. I look forward to reading about his progress.
