My pregnant mare got cast in the field.......help...

Shes quite big now - due 1st week May.

I turned her out into the field today - its a little hilly where we live. She rolled over at the bottom of a slight dip and couldnt get up. Luckily we saw it happen and put lead ropes round her fetlocks (front and back) and really carefully pulled her over. She looked shocked but started eating again ok.

What should I do... Ive wached her roll again and she cant go right over... really frightened now.

Has she got a history of any colic?

Are they any other signs of distress other than just getting cast?

no nothing - she allways likes to roll when going out - it just looked like her belly was too big and she rolled at the bottom of a slope...

It has been said to me that pregnant mares can roll over to turn their foals.

I do notice that nearer the time they get to foaling the more they seem to do it.

Not sure how you are going to sort out your problem though . Sorry

Then I wouldn't be too worried, probably just having problems due to her shape!
If you do think anything changes however I would maybe ring and chat to the vet and she what s/he thinks about it, hope that helps!
