My Quazzimodo is poorly sick :(

I know he's not a dog, but he acts like one!

This is Quazzi

He was born with one eye and one nostril, and i hand-reared him (he was born to a stray mum at the rescue i used to work at).

Anyhoo, he went missing on the 19th and was found on the 28th. He's never been away before, but a neighbour reckons she saw him getting chased by a dog. He bolted and when he stopped running, he didn't know where he was. So i got him back, but he's obviously not eaten for 9 days and has been out in the horrific weather we've had. He's skin & bone, matted, and has terrible diarrhoea He's at the vets at the mo, having bloodwork done (poss temporary diabetes??) He's a poorly lad, so i'm seeking sympathy for him! And healing vibes And if anyone's got any similar experiences, please share.

And just cos it's too cute, here he is at 4 weeks (he's 2 and a half now)

Aw poor Quazz, that picture of him as a kitten is adorable, can see why you adopted him. Hopefully it is just the stress of being lost and not eating that has made him ill and he will improve after some tlc. Fingers crossed for him and please keep us updated.

Cats are tough cookies, hopefully he will do just fine...main thing is to take the feeding slowly even though he will probably be hungry just so that his body has time to adjust as otherwise there is a risk of him developing fluid and electrolyte imbalances that can cause some problems.

What a lovely little chap and well done for successfully rearing him.

Im sure as MM said its the stress and perhaps he got really chilled whilst he was missing. Hope the vet gets him sorted and he is back on the road to recovery.

When my Sooty cat is in need of treats I feed him either minced chicken or tinned pilchards in tomato sauce I hope you find something to get the wieght back on him

Thank you everybody. NaviveSpeaker - you're right - he is very spesh is many ways!

He's home now His bloods showed that everything was either slightly low (eg, red cell count) or slightly raised (eg kidney enzymes), but nothing major or serious. It's just going to be some tlc and he should be fine. The vet did say that occasionally they see them start to have massive kidney problems 4-6 weeks after the 'event', so to keep an eye on him. It's unlikely though
I asked about special diet and he just said Hills a/d and/or some decent kitten food. Any recommendations? He's currently fed (well, before all of this started) Felix AGAIL (one pouch) and Burns biscuits (ad lib).

Glad to hear Quasi's ok, personally I'd stay away from the Hills (although if you were closer I think I've still got the 2 freebags the vets gave us and we never used if you wanted it). His normal grub should be ok - although if you wanted to spoil him maybe add some cooked chicken or some fish?
