My Sandon Saddlery purchase!

Tried out my Sandon Saddlery purchase this morning that I bought yesterday

I also bought the off-side Queen from them too.

I researched my saddle and found out that it was made by Beck Morrow (a London saddlery) which ceased trading in 1907 so my saddle can't be any later than that!

It fits Hattie really well and it didn't shoot forward onto her shoulders like other side saddles have. I would haver known in a few strides of trot whether she liked the saddle or not by her bucking me off but she didn't! Now just need to get the saddler to adjust the flocking and changed the girth straps as they are the original pre 1907 ones.

So glad we did the 140 round trip there!

How fabulous that something made pre 1907 is still being useful - I'm glad you had a good trip - it is a delight of a place, in my humble opinion...

OneInAMillion, yes it is an unusual one- it's an off-side side saddle! Not many of them were made it seems and those that were, were made for people with some sort of disability which is good as my poor arthritic right hip and knee can be a bit of a bugger sometimes. With this saddle, I can rest my right leg.

Clueless, it just goes to show the workmanship of things back then and the testament to the saddlers that made them that someone would be using it in 2011!
