My sisters horse did a similar thing a couple of years ago, although he didn't land on her but she did break her collarbone.

On checking the horses road nails, one of them had come out (don't know how). I would give them a double check when you see your horse again. Hope you are feeling ok

Please please go to A&E, not the doctors as they will not be able to help you...or they will just tell you what they told my friend who came of one o my horses, just a bit of concussion as she was suffering from headaches etc

Turned out she'd fractured her skull, and was in hospital within a few days of going back to the doctors and still complaining fo dizzy spells and pain in her head (although the pain wasn't very painful, so even if its just a little bit of pain) they sent her to hospital for a scan and she ended up in hospital for god knows how long.


Never mind you leg, or your horses knee boots, your head/brain is more important.

I know.... but further up the country lane, there is a duel carriageway, and she thought the horse might go trotting off that way.... but she didn't, she went straight for home.

Because a loose horse on the roads could end up costing the lives of other road users.......
 
I had a similar accident many many years ago and ended up in hospital for over a year

I would suggest you do go to A&E. I've had a horse land on my leg and foot and I never went, but all these years later I wish I had because something has never been right there ever since. It may only be bruised but if it may not, and if you go and see to it right now then something will be able to be done about it.

Another vote for A&E! Many years ago our old cob landed on my leg (this was in the days of hacking to the forge!) Horse was ambling along, I realised we were late and kicked him on, he fell over and landed on my leg. He was a ride and drive and wouldn't get up until I wriggled out and held his bridle. I carried on my journey and rode him home, but have had a dodgy knee ever since. I am sure it would have made more sense to go to A&E then.
 
Glad you're ok, what a horrible experience.

Just to those who think the YO was stupid to get her to move - the first rule of first aid is to avoid further danger to the patient - which with the blind bend was IMO the right thing for her to do.

Poor you - bet you will both be a bit tender in the morning. Glad no serious harm done. If you have taken a bang to your head you maybe should have gone to A&E to be on the safe side.
 
Thank goodness you are both pretty much okay, other than shaken up which is completely understandable. Good job you were wearing a hat too.
 
Only just read about your accident - after reading about your trip to A&E - and wanted to find out why? !

Oh god - how awful and scary.

Hope your leg doesn't hurt too much
