Our family springer spaniel Megan went into the vets to have some lumps removed.

Results came back on Friday - 4 lumps benign but one lump was malignant.

Poor Megan was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer :(:(

We are awaiting a consultation appointment from Liverpool University to see where we go from here.

Depending on what stage of cancer she has depends on if we go for 4 weeks worth of radiation therapy (3 times a week) or just let her live out the rest of her life until we feel she is suffering.

Just wanted to share as Megan will be 9 years old on christmas day and want to remind people that if you feel a lump, even a tiny speck, please get it checked out, no matter how young your dog is.

Sorry to read this. Our neighbour's collie was diagnosed and he had the treatment (expensive) for a period of about six months. It gave him perhaps another year of life before it returned. He seemed tired on the treatment but not ill as such if that helps you decide.

Megan isnt showing any signs of being poorly at the moment - infact she seems to be having a second puppyhood!

As she is a family dog ultimately it is my parents decision. If it was one of my two i dont know what i'd do.
