Right so earlier I asked for advice about my back, now I need advice on my weak left leg! Just got back from my lesson, now the horse wasn't in the mood for work so had to use a hell of a lot of leg, but my RI kept asking why I wasn't using my left leg, but I felt like I was using it the same as my right, I obviously wasn't because the horse kept drifting.

Anyone got any exercises to strengthen my leg, even on my hip, I must have a really really weak left leg

Horse was quite possibly leaning in on that side too which makes it even harder for you. Most of us have a weaker side, as do horses. Being fitter will help but you will still be one-sided. I struggle with my left leg as a result of injury but through riding more horses it is now as useful as I need it to be. I'm sure someone will know how you can strengthen on on it's own....

I have silly weak left leg, my new year's res. is to sort it out. I've been working with my dynaband (big elastic band) doing leg resistance work (as seen in h and h a few weeks ago with Louise Skelton I think). When horses lean or become crooked it is much easier to use a bend and move the shoulders and front end than moving the hind.

try some yoga or pilates exercises from a physio of instructor, i found them really helpful after my knee injury, and still use them now to keep it working the same as my right leg.

mary wanless books are really helpful too, and have helped me ride a lot straighter since my injury.

I have similiar problems with weakness etc, my weak sides move around depending on where most of the pain/stiffness and lack of feeling is, I also have trouble feeling what my body is doing all of which is caused by my ME. My instructor says I'd be a fantastic rider if only my body would do what my brain wants it too all of the time

I ride well for about the first 20 minutes by then I'm exhausted and really start to struggle to keep my positional faults in check.
