Unfortunately I realised my tap worked when I pulled up from work to OH yelling about me flooding the machinery shed ?
At some point in the week I turned a tap on and didn’t turn it off again…

Ooops.

Our yard is wet and I suspect it will freeze overnight. The only blessing for the past week was that it was dry...

I walked out of the conservatory into the back garden this morning and into a spurting fountain coming from the hosepipe. I must have left the tap on and the frozen water had expanded and cracked the spray head in a couple of places.

Mine is still frozen. I had a bit of a panic in the dark when I realised I didn't have any water for soaking feeds, I had to trek over to the fields and find the nearest water trough!

Ours is still not working, it's frozen underground so I'm thinking it will be a while. Not helped by it freezing both last night and the night before on top of rain.

I have 2 automatic waterers working tonight - bliss

Feels a little bit smug . Got all mine working. Had to take a chisel and remove the ice from the ballcock. But they all worked and didn’t leak .
Although one of my pipes burst flooding the wash bay , so have had to turn that section off . So no water in the tack room until we get a plumber out .
Our usual plumber has gone into hiding. May attempt it myself today
Anyone ever fitter a water connector themselves before ? The white ones that join to parts of the copper pipe ?

Taps still frozen and I'm dreading the defrost in case we get leaks, but for the first morning in what feels like forever I don't have icebergs on the trough.

Mr EM and son spent yesterday fixing multiple burst pipes as it thawed. It's great we're not having to run a hose from the house for buckets now the drinkers working again but a quick thaw followed by heavy rain has left so much water lying. I suspect the ground and the base of the outdoor school are still frozen so the water is just lying on top with nowhere to go.

The tap is working, but the ground is frozen and the rain that's fallen has managed to freeze between, and on top of, the hard-core, the entire yard is like a skating rink. We are just thankful that the horses are living out worth a shelter, so don't need to cross the yard.

Managed to get a tap working yesterday but couldn’t find my long hose so couldn’t reach the trough but did manage to fill some big containers so have enough water for the yard for a couple of days. Carrying water from the house was taking a couple of hours a day.
when I say ‘managed’ I actually mean noticed that water was running down the path from the tap I had tried to get working on Thursday and not turned off - oops.

Everything else is still frozen and the yard has become an ice rink with the rain falling on the snow. Think I will be spending tomorrow looking for leaks.
