I just got a 10 year old rescue thoroughbred. I have just had him a week. I have not ridden him yet. The other day I had someone up to longe him, it all started fine, but they were concerned about him tail swishing all the time and suggested he may have a problem. So, they took him into the yard and started to feel down his back, after getting so far he suddenly turned around and took a chuck of hair from his back leaving it very sore ! then he tried to do the same the other side. We decided to let him go into the field to calm down, but with that he just went crazy..racing around, jumping and really working up a sweat (never done this before) So, really worried about him we called the vet who checked hiom over, gave him 3 injections and did the rubber glove bit, while all this was going on he just stood there very calm as he usually is !!! Vet said totaly sound and healthy, also comented on how well behaved he was.
We don't know why he reacted the way him did. The vet checked his back and said it was fine, so what made him go crazy !!
He still continually swishing his tail, grazing, grooming, walking and feeding, the tail is never still..really strange, what could it be?? Thanks in advance.
