I also went to Golden Cross today to do prelim 4 and 10.
It was a horrible morning and when I was warming up it started really raining hard, so I was soaked and poor axey just wanted to turn his bum into the rain, not good for riding!

We went in and he started off being lovely, really relaxed and soft. Then it started absolutely tipping it down, it was torrential

Being in an indoor school it really made a noise and upset my poor little baby horse. The roof was leaking and water was cascading down the doorways

I did the best I could but he was quite tense for the 2nd half of the test.
So I was delighted with my mark of 61.8% and we came 7th out of 23

Prelim 10 was over an hour later so we went back to the lorry and had a cup of tea and a slice of cake!
The sun then came out and we warmed up in sunshine. Went in and Axey did the nicest most relaxed test ever and I came out feeling really pleased with him. So I was a bit disappointed to only get 61.3%

Wasn't in the placings but I was probably about 8th out of 18. Test sheet said he was stiff on the turns and bends, and not always steady to the contact.

We have a lesson booked with Markus Bauer next saturday, so will see if my scores improve.

Oh no sounds like you got the worst of the weather, it was awful this morning.

Well done though, at least he went well and still not bad scores even though he deserved better in the second test. Unfortunately that's dressage and sometimes you wonder if the judges just pick a number out of the sky! Try not to feel too disheartened, have a good lesson and hope your scores are better next time.

Sorry to hear you got incredibly wet...

You should take your sheets to your lesson and see what your instructor thinks of the marks and comments... I did, and she explained things much better and made me realise where I had gone wrong.

On the plus side, I didn't get any mention of him being tense in the 2nd test and that's a first!
The judge has judged us loads of times before and looking back through our old test sheets she's actually marked us better when he's being a tense spooky git

Oh well that's dresage for you

It's really confusing when you get a worse mark when you *think* you've done a better test!! Can you get someone to video you, then have a watch with your instructor?

Two marks over 60% isn't bad though - I'd be delighted with that!
