but not to me, to my husband :D
He was hacking out on a friends TB mare when the staghounds came galloping up the road behind him.... I would have cried!!!!! .... he went hunting!! lol

Has this happened to anyone else?

On several occasions I met the hunt on my old mare. She had all the hounds around her legs on one day and stood stock still taking it all in. The huntsman commented on how well behaved she was!! We didn't join in though, but she liked to watch what was going on.

To be fair he heard them about, so hacked in that direction, yeah he asked the master if it was ok if he tagged along for a bit, stayed out for an hour hehe, I did notice his hi viz was in his pocket when I bumped into them:rolleyes:

Oh goodness I'd poo myself! My old share horse used to get super excited when we saw just one other horse plodding about and would immediately want to be near them, can't imagine what would happen in hunting ground, a race and a red face I expect!

Yes, out hacking with young daughter, and OH who was just learning to ride ..... we were in the middle of an enclosure and suddenly found ourselves surrounded by hounds, riders cantering towards us from all directions, horn blasting ..... cue our beasties turning into fire breathing, snorting, cantering on the spot monsters!

We found an empty track and trotted as fast as we could go until we found a way out of the enclosure - for OH ignorance was bliss, he had NO IDEA that he was about to DIE!

We have also got caught up in stampedes of the wild ponies too - that is even more terrifying!

LOL love this!! :D

I actually think i would die if this happened to us.
You should have seen the performance when a couple of trotters when past...eck!

Yep, happened to me when I was out with a friend and my sister (who was then aged 11 ). The hunt was technically in a field alongside the lane we were riding along, but all the hounds jumped down into the road and swarmed round the horses - my sister's lad turned and followed them, my friend's horse ran in the opposite direction, and mine climbed into a ditch and pretended to be somewhere else (I swear she even shut her eyes :p). If I told you only one of them had ever hunted before, I bet you can guess which it was :D

Bet the mare had a blast! My heart skipped with the title of your thread - thought something had happened to the glorious Freddie :(

Awww sorry to scare you! Mr Freddie tried to climb out of his stable a couple times when his friend was outside, so we have bought him a grill and a mirror, shall put them up at the weekend and report back hehe... ps measured him on Saturday and his bottom is now 16hh grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Clever Freddie :p Hope he likes the mirror better than my stoopid TB who attacked it when he saw his reflection at a very posh dressage yard just before his test in the indoor school.

Is he going to grow much more? Hopefully he's reach full bum height and the front will just catch up......

He hasn't seen his mirror yet, but he is super friendly with other horses, so hopeful he will love his new buddy in his stable lol... hoping his bottom has stopped growing xx
