Hi

My Trotter x Tb has trouble keeping his weight on hes only 2 yrs 4 months, im currently feeding him on 2 jugs of Baileys stud cubes & 2 hugs of sugarbeet morning & evening i do also add a little bit on Honey chop in each meal too, he also has a hay net on the evenings (But normally only eats half) & nice grass alday, any ideas why hes not keeping it on or can you recommend anything else feed wise???? Will have to go with sugarbeet as my others have it also,

Thanks in advance

We have always had a problem keeping his weight on

A lot of people have luck with Fast Fibre, there's another thread about that active at the moment. However a horse I work with who is quite a fussy eater won't eat it. All the others do, though.

I'm another one who would first look at worming/teeth and what's his poos like? Gives a little insight as to how the hind gut is working. Personally once worming and teeth are looked into I would use a fibre based diet, fast fibre, micro linseed and equimins advance complete which has put and kept weight on any horse iv had even horses which have stuggled to keep any weight on in the past.
